Well lets see every chicken has one head and two legs right? and every pig has one head and 4 legs right? so if you put 70 dims on a table and 200 pennies on a table start to take out 1 dimes and 2 pennies and when you run out of pennies youll have your answer

Not sure if this is correct but.
If you have 40 chickens = 80 legs and
if you have 30 pigs = 120 legs.
So that would be 70 heads (40 + 30 ) and 200 legs (80 + 120)
You are on your own with the equation I am afraid.

C + P = 70
2C + 4P = 200
-2C – 2P = -140
2C + 4P = 200
2P = 60
Pigs = 30
C + 30 = 70
Chickens = 40

200 = 2(70-x) + 4x
200 = 140-2x+4x
60 = 2x
x = 30
so 30 pigs and 40 chickens
