a = chickens
b = pigs
c = cows
The total price is $100.
.5a + 3b + 10c = 100
And he buys 100 animals total.
a + b + c = 100
Are you sure you’re not missing information? To solve a system of three variables, you need three different equations.

do an equation.
0.50x + 3x + 10x = $100
Ax + Bx + Cx = 100 animals.
x equals the amount of animal, a equals chickens, b equals pigs,and c equals cows.
and i forgot the rest

The farmer needs to get 94 chickens, 1 pig and 5 cows. The solution to this problem can be found through trial and error or with the use of a maximisation formula, since the numbers need to be whole numbers, ie the farmer cannot buy half a pig.

x+y+z=100
50x+300y+1000z=100
Solve for three variables, and you have the answer.
