Is ecotrition a good guinea pig food or is kaytee good?
The cage came with ecotrition but i saw it had nuts and stuff in it so i got another food, kaytee supreme daily blend.I still have both brands she is eating both right now (sometimes i mix them). But for some reason i feel like ecotrition is a better food but it doesnt look like it.I cant find oxbow anywhere and im not going to order it online because my mom does like buying stuff online.I know i already asked this before but i only got 1 answer last time. Are there Any good guinea pig foods out there besides oxbow?!

Honestly? Both foods suck. You only want to use a high quality pellet. Forget mixes and forget anything Kaytee. There’s 3 top of the line pellets IMO – Oxbow, Kleenmama’s Hayloft, or Sweet Meadow Farms. All 3 are available by mail order online. Some veterinarian’s offices carry Oxbow and it’s usually cheaper to buy it from them then directly from Oxbow. Some stores carry it too. On the East coast in the New England area, you might find some stores that carry Sweet Meadow Farms.
Guinea pigs do have a preference. Pellets vary in taste and size. Mine prefers Sweet Meadow Farms. He doesn’t like the size of Kleenmama’s or I would get that with my hay orders. He won’t touch Oxbow – and I don’t care for the company, or their quality of hay any longer, so I won’t deal with them for anything.

Do a search on Google for the Oxbow. There’s lots of online sites carrying it now.
Depending on the age of your guinea pig, you want Timothy based pellet. If he’s under 10 months old you can get him alfalfa based pellet.

I recommend Oxbow and Kleenmama’s pellets; however, if you can’t order online, my next recommendation would be Mazuri Guinea Pig Pellets. This is a plain green pellet with no mix, seeds, or artificial junk/colourings/fillers.
It can be purchased at Petsmart and some retail feed stores. Petsmart has also begun selling Oxbow Cavy Cuisine in small 5lb. bags.

I choose Kaytee Supreme. This is a great choice for your piggy and if you take a look at the ingredients you will find that your piggy will be getting all the proper nutrition with this food. I am involved with a shelter and we find that this is the best choice for our guinea pigs.

I use Kaytee and have for years, we have very happy healthy pets and would recommend it to anyone who wants a good food at a decent price.

Any "mixtures" are bad for guinea pigs. Guinea pigs are very susceptible to obesity, and all of those little seeds and nuts are like potato chips to them. I would by NutriFresh, just the pellets, or Kaytee Supreme, just the pellets. Make sure you introduce the new food slowly, with the old food because guinea pigs also have very sensitive stomachs that get upset easily.
