You can adopt from this shelter in Iowa: http://www.arl-iowa.org/aspx/generalcontent.aspx?pid=1 They currently have a young piglet (4 months) for adoption. ‘Mini’ pot-bellied pigs do not exist. They come in one size, and mature anywhere from 70-250 pounds (average weight around 150 pounds, smaller pigs are rare). Breeders of pigs marketed as ‘mini’, ‘micro’, or ‘teacup’ are trying to rip people off. They will breed adolescents (6-8 months of age) that are nowhere near adult size so they can tell potential buyers that ‘see the parents, yours won’t get any bigger’- well, those ‘parents’ are only about a quarter of their adult size at that point- they continue to grow until 4-5 years of age.
