Scared Guinea Pig Help Please?

I just bought two male guinea pigs yesterday. When I came home with them I put them in a temporary cage and gave them plenty of food, fresh fruit, veggies and water. I didn’t handle them much at all because yesterday because I knew that they were scared and needed time to get used to their new environment. I watched them and they sit climbed up on eachother in the back corner of the cage, rarely eating and drinking while we’re in the room. Today, I took them out of their cage and played with them because I read online that you are supposed to handle them a few times every day. They run around in their cage terribly frightened every time I reach in for them, which I understand just takes a little getting used to. But a few minutes ago I took them out and tried to feed them an orange (which they were too scared to pay any attention to), petting one he stayed frozen and started to like, chatter a little bit? I took this as a sign of unhappiness and put them both back in their cage, I wont mess with them for the rest of the day because I feel really bad when I frighten them. What should I do? How do I make them feel more comfortable with me? Also, I have cats to love to go into my room, I’ve kept the door closed because I know that the very last thing those poor scared guinea pigs need is to have to worry about my cats. I’ve seen cages that are supposedly cat proof, but the wires don’t look very close together. Now, my cats are very clever hunters, and I know that they will easily maneuver their little paws between those wires to terrorize the little piggies. Any Advice?

stretchy animals-where to get!?

my school had a book fair where they sold stretchy outlines of animals such as pigs, cats, and ducks that everybody bought and wore as bracelets. I know they sell them at the christmas tree shop but where can i buy them online??

What do you think of this? Owning about 5 cats, 2 newfoundlands, a sheltie…..?

What do you think of this? Owning about 5 cats, 2 newfoundlands, a sheltie, a corgi, 10 horses, 5 mini goats, 5 sheep, 2 bunnies, 3 birds,
10 alpacas, a chicken, a potbellied pig, a rooster and a cow.
Full house isn’t it. I don’t have all these yet I was just wondering if these
animals will get along if properly raised?
I forgot about fish. I plan on having a
50 gal. tank with a variety of tropical fish.
Ok, so I’ll have 4 chickens instead of one.

Why do people let their cats roam and gets angry if anyone does anything!?

We have 2 dogs and 2 potbellied pigs. Our yard is fenced in and we work hard to make sure our animals don’t bother no one else. We have bird feeders and houses everywhere because we love to see all the differant birds. But cats come over our fence and kill our baby birds. We have attracted them here and someone thinks their cat can just roam and kill what we have built as our sanctuary. I finally called the law and they said if any animal got into our yard that it was legal to shoot them. I tried telling our neighbors about this and they got angry. It’s alright that their cats kill our birds but we are not suppose to kill their cat? Doesn’t make much sense to me. Only seems fair. Their cat has no right in our yard when we have worked so hard to make sure our animals don’t get in theirs. Why do people think this is alright. I don’t hate carts, but I just don’t want them in my yard. Why don’t people with cats take on more responsibility for their pet? All people don’t want them!
One thing I do control my animals. They all have been trained. The pigs are cleaned up regularly and on their side of the fence there is no one that can live on that side but we do have a privacy fence there. But their yard is cleaned regularly. Our dogs our mainly inside and if not, they are in our yard. I do not see why people think I should put out money to control others peoples animals. We have our fence put up to control ours, and it mostly keeps other peoples animals out, except for cats out of control. And if I did have a cat it would be inside or on a leash because I will not let my animals bother anyone else. They are my babies. Because it is the only responsible thing to do. And when I said I talked to someone about this it was the sheriff. So I do believe he knows the law. Like I said I have nothing against cats and maybe one day I will have one. But I will be responsible with it considering my neighbors would proubly expect me to like I do the rest of them.

How to take care of a baby pot bellied pig?

Well I volunteer at a vets office and we have a 5 week old pot bellied pig as a clinic pet, well every week someone takes it home and sometimes it will be me! Can I still kill pests if I join PETA?

A pest is defined as any living being that is bothersome to me. I live by a dairy farm and in the summertime the smell of the pigs and cows is terrible and sometimes they break out and run all over the yard during mating season. The dear and rabbits are ruining my garden and pooping all over the grass.

Most people consider carpenter ants, termites, wasps, mice and rats as main pests. However there are furry pests as well raccoons, deer, moles, cats, dogs and cows.

I asked the farmer but he and his ancestors were there first, so its a lost cause.

How old should children be for a pet guinea pig?

I have a three year old girl and a five year old boy, and they are wanting a guinea pig. I have told them we will think about it, but I have never owned a guinea pig before, and I have no idea what is involved. If anyone knows something about guinea pigs, I would appreciate some advice.
We have two dogs, three cats, a ferret and a fish. They are still a little rough on the cats sometimes, but are learning to be gentle. I used to have a hamster when I was in college, but it was a bitey little thing. Like I said, I have never owned a guinea pig before, and I had no idea they were fragile. The kids see them on TV, and thought they were cool.
