i want them both…but dad thinks guinea pigs are loud and ugly. my Thinks the same for gliders…im confused!!

Well.. I’m planning to get a guinea pig… and my dad is a little stingy with the Air Conditioning.. He only turns it on at 90 and turns it off at 85. He says 85 is live-able.. And Guinea Pigs aren’t supposed to be 65-75 degress inside.. I know one answer I’ll get.. "Don’t think about getting a Guinea Pig." A little to late for that… I have bought all the stuff, made the cage.. a big cage, and I have got alot of procedures down for caring for a guinea pig.. And I think I got to far to turn around and leave everything as that. "Well return the stuff, and forget about everything you learned." Also… I can’t return all of the stuff..I bought it about… 4 Months ago.. Minus the food(I plan to buy it online with Kleen Mama’s Hayloft.) .. And also the reason I took so long was because, I was spending time looking for Giunea pig in a shelter..

What are some things I can do to cool down the cage?

My 8 sister and I both have been wanting a guinea pig for the longest time. Finally, my mom has agreed to let us get 2 (I’ve been reading about them and found it’s best to have 2) guinea pigs, but my dads still not very sure of the idea. He knows we’ll take care of them, since I am 13 going on 14 and my sister is getting to the age where he thinks she can be quite responsible, but he isn’t a fan of "rats" as he calls them. Is there any way I can help convince him to let us get the pigs?

Also, I’ve noticed online that many of their supplies are cheap. The guinea pigs we want are per guinea pig. I’m pretty sure they come with a pet store cage, but do we need a different and larger cage? Also, about how much (after all the supplies) do you think the cost will come to? And finally, what supplies exactly do we need?

I am planning on buying a book once my dad gives us the ok, but until then I’d like to know a few things.

Ok, I won’t get one from a petstore. There is a rescue center about an hour away. Would you say that’s a good place to get one? Its called Texas Rustlers Guinea Pig Rescue.

My family just called sign-a-rama, and was told that for a 48-by-42 coroplast piece, it would cost 0 dollars. I’ve seen the people online who have guinea pigs say they got it for way, way less, and there’s no way we’re going to pay that much.
I’m having a lot of trouble finding any place that sells it though… And IN Joliet, IL. Not near, in. My dad doesn’t want to go outside Joliet for it.

my little sister is 11.
she hates mice, because they poop constantly (so nothing that small that poops a lot)
shes had dogs,cats,birds,mice,rabbits,hermit crabs,fish,guinea pigs,potbellied pigs,ferrets,rocks (lol), yabbies, degus, a duck, chickens and an axolotyl.
so none of them.

the parents want something low maintenance.
dad says no reptiles either
because he has a rly bad fear of them.
mum wants something that bonds with its owner and that doesnt smell bad.
she was thinking chinchilla, but we cant finnd any breeders.

my brother and sister r 8 and they want a small animal 2 take care of. they r not that responsible yet so no animals that require a lot of cleaning, feeding, maitinence. is that the word? anyway my sister probably wants a rodent probably. guinea pigs, rats, rabbits, amd chinchillas dont work. 2 big or 2 much work. ive had gerbils b4 and i didnt like them much. my brother might want a reptile. no animals that live more than 10 years. they will lose interest. also no animals that will probably attack another small animal such as a mouse. and my parents r divorced so the animal might have 2 live two or three days without attnetion. (my dad would make sure they had food and water, though.) these r kind of hard details so just give me some ideas or tips. oh and they probably dont want a fish, too boring. birds might b ok.

I really would like a pair of Guinea Pigs, I have read up on them online, worked out how much It would cost to buy everything I need (cage, food, guinea pigs, etc) the very first time. I have also worked out what I would need to buy every month and how much it would cost coming from my local pet shop. I have all the money saved up that I need. I have seen a suitable cage that I like. I also made a book with information on them.
I have had 3 hamsters in the past and when I asked my mum about getting guinea pigs she said “wouldn’t you rather get another hamster?” which I wouldn’t. Im not too sure what’s putting her off the idea of guinea pigs, I looked after all my previous hamsters well and cleaned out their cages weekly, made sure I played with them every night, made sure the water bottle had enough in it, enough food every night, veggies. I know Guinea Pigs take more work but I am willing to do it.

My dad seems ok with the idea but my mum always says no and she doesn’t seem to have a reason for saying it.

Help? I really want these guinea pigs.
Anyone got any idea’s of what I can do?

ok why does my mom favritize my lil sis? my lil sis [jill] is such a jerk, and she gets away with EVERYTHING!!! 1 time i was talking to a friend about being a Christian and she looked me in the face and told me ‘Suzette just cause you go into McDonelds doesn’t mean your a cheeseburger!!!!’ and she was NOT joking, they are so mean to me! i don’t get it!!! ok now heres something eles she did, ok i HATE when people call me ‘Suzie’ my names ‘Suzette’ and she knows that so 1day we were @ my ants [we were in canada] and she was being mean to me so i told her to stop it and she started to call me [ u know like a pig farmer calls his pigs 'sooy' ] and i am over weight and have been struggling with it all my life, [and i'm VERY sensitive about it] and i asked her to please stop and she just did it more!!!!! i went to a bed room that no one was in and started crying, well my mom n dad came in to see what was wrong and i told them and they said ’stop being so sensitvie!!’ i couldnt believe what i was hearing!!!! so i know why am being treated like this [its cause i'm the middle child] but everytime i try to talk to them about it they just tell me to stop being so sensitive!!! please help me idk what to do!!! so my question is what do i do? and what would you do? ps i’m 18, and have concidered just ending it all, but now i’m not going to cause iv found this guy that i have fallen in love with and he has made me so happy [when we are not around my family] and i was also thinking about moving out but i can’t cause my curent job doesn’t pay enough so i’m looking for another one but any way what would you do in this situation?

When my boyfriend called me tonight he was laughing with his mom and his mom was saying something like "Is your name Jess suey" because I guess suey means pig in chinese? Well my dad raises pigs so thats why pigs is always a topic with them teasing me and then he called me a pig farmer and he knows Im NOT a pig farmer and he knows I hate it when he calls me that. And he was laughing with his mom about it (we’re 16) and I was just quiet and he said "hello?" and I said "yeah?" and he said "why arent you talking?" and I said "because Im not sure I even want to talk to you right now" and so he said "well Im going to go then bye I love you" and I said love you and we hung up. I feel so angry and hurt that he would call me a pig farmer when he knows I hate it and I just want to tell him it made me hurt and angry but I know its going to start an argument and I dont want that. How can I go about it WITHOUT starting an argument?

My parents are divorced and I go to me dad’s one week then my mom’s the next and so on. I really want a guinea pig but how could I care for it becuase I know they need lots of attention.

Also please no rants on how to care for a guinea pig I have done research for the past 3 months and know about the beddding, hay,pellets,c&c cage, and all the rest. My mom said maybe and so did my dad if I get one I know where I’m going to put the cage and every thing.
