How do I convince my parents to get me a guinea pig?

I’ve done tons of research on guinea pigs, and I really feel like guinea pigs are the best pet for both my family and me. However, my parents don’t agree. I’ve sat down and outlined all of the care needed for guinea pigs, where to adopt, costs, etc, as well as written up well over twenty pages on their behavior, sounds, and needs. They don’t seem to be budging much. I’m a straight A student in all honors classes, very responsible, and right now I’m stuck trying to think of more ways to convince them. There’s not any deals I can strike with them, because I’m expected to get chores done and get straight A’s without reward. Right now their two biggest concerns are:

1. I’ll get bored of it in a few months. I know I won’t get bored with them, otherwise I wouldn’t ask for one because I realize they can live for a long time, but I don’t know how to convince them otherwise. I admit I do have a short attention span, and lose interest in toys quickly, so that’s why they have this fear. However, guinea pigs are not toys, so I know I’ll love them for as long as they live.

2. What to do with them when we travel. This is one that stumps me; I’ve looked into guinea pig sitters, but couldn’t find any in the phone book. We travel a lot during summer; and my dad says my friends won’t appreciate if I drop them off at their house for a month or so (especially since I plan on building them a C&C Cage, or whatever they’re called).

Anyways, I would appreciate any suggestions for how I can convince them and overcome the above two obstacles. If they don’t give in soon, I might just have to respect their answer and acknowledge that it is their house, but I feel I can try a little bit longer before I cross the line. My dad doesn’t like them but my mom is allergic to all oher animals and I mean seriously allergic. she will DIE.
P.S. im a vegetarian– I Will NOT EAT IT!!!!!!!

Best pet to get?

I’m fifteen currently, have two cats, one being mine, the other being my sistters, I feed them, brush them, give them water, clean out their litterboxes and even help my dad give my cat her pill. (to keep her kidney values at a good level)

We used to have 6 gerbils, but we no longer do as they died from old age. I kind of miss having a little pet around so I was wondering which rodent pet you would suggest. I’m kind of leaning towards a guinea pig or rat, but the only problem is I heard the vet bills can be quite pricey, and our money is a little tight at the moment because my dad is only a contractor and doesn’t have a permanent job.

By the way, I plan on buying all the supplies and pets myself, I have a job and get paid 50-90 dollars a month, depending on how many hours I work.

What pet do you reccommend for me? Also, are there any stores with pet supplies that aren’t so expensive?
Don’t worry, I don’t plan on buying them from a petstore. I’m vegetarian, and I don’t really support pet stores. ^^;

PLEASE HELP ME CONVINCE MY MOM TO LET ME ADOPT 2 GUINEA PIGS?

Ok so I made her a booklet and everything. She won’t tell what she’s thinking about and avoids all conversation about it. I have 3 cats and i have thought about ways to keep the cavies safe and I wouldn’t even lets them in the room or the cavy out without a playpen. I’m not trying to be cocky but i’m very responsible and smart, i know i am. I understand more than people my age and i am more mature than most of my peers. I love animals and appreciate every little thing people say to me. So when I want my guinea pigs this bad and have done research on them, it drives me nuts! I try to ask her about it but she tries to avoid it completely! When i had my first 2 cats my mom promised me a bird. I was so excited but later my mom asked me if i would want another cat instead. I was younger back then and a little oblivious let alone caught up in the excitement. So i agreed and we got Carly our 3rd cat. I love all of my cats and my dad’s dog dearly but i want something new, I always have. I have gone from snakes, to terrapins, sugar gliders, hamsters and finally guinea pigs. I honestly think they are the best for me. One problem she won’t let me get one! (or 2) I appreciate all my animals but i want my own responsibility so i have someone who relies on me. I want responsibility. I love animals and i want to be familiar with different animals. My parents are divorced and my dad just got a dog. One of my moms concerns is that she’ll be stuck taking care of them when im at my dads house. I know they don’t like to travel but my dad’s house is literally a block away! ( i know weird) I’m getting my own room at my dads house soon because his house is going under renovation. I would take care of them in my room. I would have a cage set up there too probably still a C&C cage but a slightly smaller one like 2×3. I really want them and i don’t want to beg for them. I feel like she won’t talk to me and she’s not doing any research. I don’t even know why she doesn’t want them! It pisses me off because its like shes given up already without doing research. Like she hears me but shes not interested enough to give it a chance. If you could help me convince her or give suggestions thanks!!

Teresa Curcurio I appreciate you trying to help but i have done tons of research on guinea pigs, i’m a straight A student and im very mature. I’m fine with waiting but i just want a permission. I think waiting a month for a horse is different from waiting 6 months for guinea pigs. Thanks for trying to help but don’t question my maturity when waiting a month is a lot for you.

Is my guinea pig about to die?

I feel bad. I woke up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. I check on my guinea pigs but my one guinea pig wasnt doing so well. He looked as if he were suffering. His eyes were barely open and he was all crunched up in a ball. He was not sleeping cause i moved him around and picked him up. I put him back in his cage but there was no luck. He was just sitting. He refused to eat and even play with his little buddy ( His son). His son lives in the same cage with his daddy and they never fight they just love each other. The poor son pig was just so upset. He tried his best to help his dad but the dad just wouldnt budge. I even gave the 2 there favorite food, Bannaas. Only the son would eat. Usually the father pig would go nuts for food. So, The dad is only 3. Anyway, Does anyone know whats wrong??

What daily care does a guinea-pig need?

i had a guinea pig like 5 years ago when i was 9 (im almost 15 now). for my bday this year (in late, late july) i want a new one! since i was 9 i cant remember much on how to take care of it :\ .. can someone fill me in? i remember having to clean the cage out once a week.. ok well my dad did that while i occupied Maxwell (his name). (btw he died after a year, he had something called Bloat and there wasnt anything we could do about it). I also remember cleaning out his food dish and filling it with new food everyday and cleaning up after his poo. i gave him these little salt round white guineapig candy thing for him to naw his teeth on but thats all i remember. i remember it wasnt too hard, then again my parents helped…alot… now i think i can take care of one all on my own. is there any additional care im forgetting about? also can i use newspapers for the bedding of the cage instead of the bedding you buy in petstores? (cause i could just remove it & the poo on it, then clean the cage out, it would be so much easier than the bedding in the stores).

What happens if a mini pot bellied pig ingests watered down gasoline?

Today my dad was spraying down the inside of the car because it sprayed gasoline all over the drive way and stuff, and when I was walking my mini pot bellied pig moo inside cuz it was night time, she saw a puddle with a little bit of gas in it and got REALLY close to it and Im not sure if she drank some, but its watered down so idk
Now she is trying to vommit, but it could be cuz she ate too much food today, idk!
PLEASE HELP. IM CRYING RIGHT NOW BECAUSE I LOVE THIS PIGGY (MOO) PLEASE!

I might be getting a guinea pig in less than 30 days. But I want to make sure I am getting one. My dad said to ask him again in about 26 days. How should I ask him again? I want to get a positive yes! I am paying for all the supplies and the guinea pig itself. I wrote a 2 page report on guinea pigs and their care needs. I also made a list of prices. How do I ask my dad? Just plain out or…..more description? HELP!
