What is the best pet for a 11 year old girl?
Allergic to: Cats, Dogs, Ginnie pigs, and some more, pretty much she is allergic to anything with hair but can tolerate a little bit of hair

I want something small, not like a guinea pig. I want something that won’t bite, or at leas has a characteristic of non-biting. I will accept anything you can tell me, but I don’t want a hamster. I am thinking something that looks a little like a rat but not too much. My sister has a naked mole rat and I can’t go near it because it scares me, but the rat tails scare my little brother so he might leave it alone. Any help you give will be appreciated but I won’t buy online because I have to meet the animal first. I also have this terrible habit. If an animal bites me, I get nervous and start jerking my hand away, which only makes it bite more! (Sorry for the long message; just wanted to describe my situation)!
Sorry guys! I forgot to mention I hate birds! And I don’t think my mom would let me have a rat. I’d like a ferret (I think they are ADORABLE) but doesn’t it cost a lot so that they won’t stink?
Again, not trying to be rude to any of you, but it’s my mom who won’t let me have the rats. I have always wanted a ferret and I’m already used to animal smell cuz my room is right next to the cat box and we have three dogs. My rodents were always nervous and mean. I scared them by jerking my hand away, especially my hamster Mr. Whiskers. He was really mean but so cute. I can’t have anything too big or that takes a lot of attention each day. I’ll be able to give it lots some times and next to none other times. any more ideas?
I want to leave this question here so I can look back at pet names you put up, but I’m really done with it now. Thanks for the help; I’m getting a mouse! And, guys, naked mole rats are really gross and I don’t need a pet that looks like one. Plus, my sister named her’s Jezebel. I think a name is important and can tell a lot about a person and Jezebel was a false prophetess in Revelation who was punished for what she did. I’m going to name mine something cute. Like Chap Stique.
Can someone please give me some quick pointers to care for a gunea pig as this will be my first guinea pig
i will just mention i can care for an animal as i have 2 dogs and a cat at the moment and they are all doing great
i will also mention that i realize it is better for the guniea pig if i have 2 but i can only get one at the moment so what would be the best way to keep one by itself happy?
i want to keep it in my room so it is away from the dogs and i thinik it could be best to keep it in a big fish tank in my room as i do have the cat indoors but i keep my bedroom door shut all the time so my cat doesn’t come in…i only want to keep it in a fish tank for the day that my cat COULD come in my room….i DO plan to lock up the dogs once a day so the guinea pig can have a bit of a run around the back yard without worrying about the dogs
so what other ways could i care for the guinea pig?
food, bedding, smell, etc.
would the above ideas i have planned work or could i make them work?tks
i am 14 yrs. olld and me and my family are thinking about getting a pot bellied pig =). i would like to hav infromation/good links to how to take care of pigs/piglets the right way. as in do they need litter box,wat we feed him,and basic care needs. also we hav a 12 yrs. old cocker spaniel dog. our dog is very very calm and is it a good idea to hav a pig and a dog, i’ve read that it works fine wirth pigs and dogs but i wanna be sure. thank you soo much.
i have a farm of about two acres i do not farm the land apart from selling chicken eggs on a stall by th front gate on saturday all my animals are pets.people keep trying to steal my animals last year some one tried to steal my lamas and this year someone tried to steal one of my horses and the potbellied pigs i have had enough even some kids tried to steal my chickens and the only animal that people have not tried to steal is my donkey bub so i was wondering should i ge some dogs to protect my animals and my farm.
We have 2 dogs and 2 potbellied pigs. Our yard is fenced in and we work hard to make sure our animals don’t bother no one else. We have bird feeders and houses everywhere because we love to see all the differant birds. But cats come over our fence and kill our baby birds. We have attracted them here and someone thinks their cat can just roam and kill what we have built as our sanctuary. I finally called the law and they said if any animal got into our yard that it was legal to shoot them. I tried telling our neighbors about this and they got angry. It’s alright that their cats kill our birds but we are not suppose to kill their cat? Doesn’t make much sense to me. Only seems fair. Their cat has no right in our yard when we have worked so hard to make sure our animals don’t get in theirs. Why do people think this is alright. I don’t hate carts, but I just don’t want them in my yard. Why don’t people with cats take on more responsibility for their pet? All people don’t want them!
One thing I do control my animals. They all have been trained. The pigs are cleaned up regularly and on their side of the fence there is no one that can live on that side but we do have a privacy fence there. But their yard is cleaned regularly. Our dogs our mainly inside and if not, they are in our yard. I do not see why people think I should put out money to control others peoples animals. We have our fence put up to control ours, and it mostly keeps other peoples animals out, except for cats out of control. And if I did have a cat it would be inside or on a leash because I will not let my animals bother anyone else. They are my babies. Because it is the only responsible thing to do. And when I said I talked to someone about this it was the sheriff. So I do believe he knows the law. Like I said I have nothing against cats and maybe one day I will have one. But I will be responsible with it considering my neighbors would proubly expect me to like I do the rest of them.
i have wanted one for 2 years! and i LOVE THEM they are my favorite animal and have been since i first saw one
i have 2 dogs. bernese mountain dog and a mini schnauzer dont worry though the bernese would most likely be scared of the pig than the pig would be of the dogs! i also have a cat who is never around and would never hurt the pig. and an old rabbit. i am 12 years old and know almost everything there is to know about caring for a pig.
thank you for helping!!
and plz dont say stuff about eating him i really hate it when people say that=[
I find it ironic that America was so appalled at Micheal Vick’s abuse of innocent animals, but they don’t find it appalling to factory farm animals. Especially pigs, they are actually smarter than dogs. So do you think workers in factory farms should face animals abuse charges and serve jail time?
My 5 year old miniature schnauzer looks like a potbellied pig. SInce she was a puppy, we have kept food in her bowl, letting her eat whenever she wants. I know that you are supposed to feed dogs meals. But how much and how often should I feed her? We have tried changing her food to diet, but still she just keeps getting bigger and bigger. I have a toddler and a newborn, so I don’t have much time to let her play outside. The only exercise she gets is chasing a tennis ball around the house occasionally. Is that enough exercise for a little dog? Would changing her eating habits make a difference?
