What sort of bowl should I get for my guinea pigs?

When I got my guinea pigs, they had a little bowl in their cage that was easily tipped over, which wasted food.

I then made a bowl to tie to the side of the cage out of a soup cream container, but that get’s poo in it.
Which of these would be the best to get?

Here’s a few options i have found at Tractor Supply:

The plastic ones seem to be the kind that secure to the side of the cage making it harder to tip over
My piggies get fed fresh ‘kibble’ once a day, and each day they get about a handful of timothy hay, which seems to be enough. They also get either a small bite of apple or some lettuce a day, but it’s nearly gone so until I can get some more, they aren’t going to be able to get it

One or Two Guinea Pigs???

Hi,
Okay so for my little sisters 6th birthday my step mom wants to get her a rodent of some sort because that is the age that me and my twin sister (okay well she is my 1/2 sister but I call her my sister) got our first rodents. Well we have owned, rats, hamsters, gerbils, and guinea pigs; and decided that guinea pigs would be the best option. So my question is should she get one or two guineas? Also, should it/they be male or females? We had one male guinea we got from a friend for about a month before, but then we had to find him a new home.
So any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks So Much!!!
By the way, she wouldn’t be the primary care tender of the guinea pig of course, it would mainly be my step mom who runs a daycare over the school week who would help her with it/them, and then over the weekend and the summer me and my 16 yr old sister will help.
Also, its not going to be a total surprise, she has been wanting a rodent of her own for a long time since I used to have gerbils (both sadly passed away) and my other sister has a dalmatian hamster who have/had spacious cages (both of their cages are recommended for rats) and recieved/recieve tons of love and attention everyday.
Sorry to add more details, but also can you recommend a cage that is of good size and fairly cheap that they have at preferably Petco because we are going their for the Guinea Pig meet n’ greet thing.
Animalluver, I would adopt from an animal shelter except my stepmom is dead set against it, I will however make that cage as it is fairly cheap and will work perfectly with our cats and will get TWO guinea pigs. We will get the pig from the adoption center up front in Petco, theones that are homeless.

Best size cage for 4 guinea pig girls?

I have 2 adult guinea pigs and now 2 babies, I plan on keeping them all what is the best size cage for them to all to have room to run and play? I do not want my girls to fight and I know being too close will cause that. All of my pigs are girls, a mother and 2 daughters and an Aunt.
I have every intention on keeping all of my girls, and possibility adopting a few more girls later on. But for now I am not sure on what size cage I should got/make for them so they have the best amount of room to play and run.
I was thinking of making a C&C cage that is 2×5 maybe and putting a second story on it, I figured that would give them room to hide and play. The Cage I have now is a 2×3, and it is getting small fast, I didn’t realize how fast these little girls would grow.
If anyone has any input on a cage size please let me know and thank you.
Thank you on the info about the ramps, I really don’t want my girls hurt.
I read a site that said something like 13 sq feet or more , does that sound right?
Would building one out of wood be better than the coroplast? I know it would be heaver and everything but would that be better for the pigs? They don’t play very rough or anything, but I could get the material easier that way.
I’m just wondering if they would eat it, or if the wood would be bad for them in any way.

What are the sighns of a pregnant guinea pig?

Her tummy is fat, and she sleeps most of the time. She will make a little trip over to the water and food dish, but then she falls asleep again. My best friend gave her to me, and my piggie was with 10 other guinea pigs. I am afraid to pick her up to check, just in case if it will cause more stress. Are those the sighns? Please tell me any other sighns.

Scared Guinea Pig Help Please?

I just bought two male guinea pigs yesterday. When I came home with them I put them in a temporary cage and gave them plenty of food, fresh fruit, veggies and water. I didn’t handle them much at all because yesterday because I knew that they were scared and needed time to get used to their new environment. I watched them and they sit climbed up on eachother in the back corner of the cage, rarely eating and drinking while we’re in the room. Today, I took them out of their cage and played with them because I read online that you are supposed to handle them a few times every day. They run around in their cage terribly frightened every time I reach in for them, which I understand just takes a little getting used to. But a few minutes ago I took them out and tried to feed them an orange (which they were too scared to pay any attention to), petting one he stayed frozen and started to like, chatter a little bit? I took this as a sign of unhappiness and put them both back in their cage, I wont mess with them for the rest of the day because I feel really bad when I frighten them. What should I do? How do I make them feel more comfortable with me? Also, I have cats to love to go into my room, I’ve kept the door closed because I know that the very last thing those poor scared guinea pigs need is to have to worry about my cats. I’ve seen cages that are supposedly cat proof, but the wires don’t look very close together. Now, my cats are very clever hunters, and I know that they will easily maneuver their little paws between those wires to terrorize the little piggies. Any Advice?

C and C cages??? Help!?

Hiya, i’m considering making a C+C cage before i buy a pair of guinea pigs (and once i’ve done enough research and everything!) if any of you own a C and C cage, would you say it is easier to make and clean than a normal cage? (and obviously there’s more room for the piggies, right?) Anyway, i live in Warwick shire in England, so finding a store that sells these mesh/grid cubes is very hard! Is there a safe online store that sells them cheap? Where did you get yours from (people in England!?) Many thanks! :)

A question for Guinea Pig Care?

Me and my friend are sharing two female guinea pigs. Is moving Guinea pigs around from my home to her home bad for them? Yes or No? Why?

Two Male Guinea Pigs Fighting ; True Or False?

Hello, im back again with this question as i have made a decision and i would like ur opinions and some information. First id like to apologize to people that have found me ignorant and mean about this problem before. I am confused still, but ive made a decision. Well, people told me two male guinea pigs from different litters tend to not fight, but then i flicked through old questions about this matter and the best answer on this question http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AsvsfGAEUE9no5Lk658UxnsAAAAA;_ylv=3?qid=1006032609907 said that two males do fight and to separate them. Three managers in pet stores told me the same thing. Loads of people have been so helpful and kind to me because of this matter which they said they don’t fight but then, other members were not so nice. But people have their opinion. I know it depends on their personality, but still. So ive made the decision to purchase a young male guinea pig (which is ready to leave his mother) ; I have a 4 month old guinea pig which ive had since he was able to leave her mother. I will purchase a new water bottle, a new little hut – here i mean not another hutch but the little tiny houses u can put in, and a new salt stone, and a new food bowl. Now my final question is ; is this an ok thing to do? No harsh comments as i am thirteen and i am just researching and wondering whats best for my guinea pigs.
I wan’t people to know that im not trying to be an expert ; im asking for help. My friends to male guinea pigs fight, i forgot to mention that, ive got proof too guys.
Buggin answerd and said that they do fight ; ok, i need loads of information guys.

I have a few questions..?

I just bought a guinea pig from a local pet store 2 days ago. Well, she was mixed in with her brother & 2 other guinea pigs from another litter. I do know that one of the guinea pigs from the other litter was a female but, not sure of the other guinea pig’s sex. Well, I was wondering if she could be pregnant? I called my vet & they said they can’t get pregnant until their 1 1/2 years old! I looked online & it said younger. I’m VERY confused. I asked the pet store how old she was & they didn’t even know how old she was.

My other question is that I have fleas in my house because I also own a dog & a cat. When I first got my kitten (Almost 3 months ago) she already had fleas. Well, it brought fleas in my house & I’ve been trying to get rid of them for that whole time now. We got a dog about 2 1/2 weeks ago & now the dog has fleas. Well, I believe their in the carpet now. I bought a "bomber" to bomb the fleas yesterday.
Well, the only problem I have with bombing is that my cat & dog have fleas. So, if I bomb the house the fleas in the house will be gone but once I bring my dog & cat back in, there will be fleas once again!

What should I do?
Another thing about Allison (My guinea pig) is that she sneezes all the time.

I bought a guinea pig before & she sneezed all the time. She ended up dying & I only had her for about 4 months. And I have NO idea why. I just came home one day & she had passed away.
Should I be worried about her sneezing?

What is the best type of guinea pig bedding?

I just got two guinea pigs and I am looking for any ideas for bedding. Tell me what you think is the easiest way to keep the cage clean. I know very little because these are my first guinea pigs.
