Should I give up my hamsters for a guinea pig?

I recently bought two adorable female syrian hamsters who were babies from the same litter. But for some reason, they don’t seem like pets. They are aggressive but that doesn’t stop me from interacting with them and trying to tame them, although all I get in return is a bloodied finger or a mark. They sleep, eat, drink and fight me. I am attempting to seperate them from eachother but cannot actually pick them up without them squeaking or ganging up on my pinkie finger. I already had a male syrian before them who was gentle and loving, so Im not sure what’s going on.

Now to a guinea pig. My recent experience with one was dreadful which lead me to purchase two syrians, but that was because of the petstore and not because of the pig. Everything was fine – until the second day, that is. I found out that the shop had sold me a guinea pig that owed mites, dandruff and bugs. It came as a shock but I decided to keep it and try and find some treatments for it. The ones I found in my town an amazing £20 each. That comes in at an amazing £60. Thats fine – but I was not willing to pay for medicine for him that cost that much when he was actually SOLD to me in this state. Even if he had caught the bugs a month after purchase I would of spent money for treatment, but because the shop had actually conned me into buying this poor but ill guinea pig, I was too amazed at what they had done to do so.

So, I went with my mum to the shop that we had bought him from, and this is when the con revealed itself. They said it had no bugs, mites or dandruff (even though I had compared his skin and behavior to that of an ill guinea pig online) and used a magnifying glass to ‘prove it’. We gave back the abused guinea pig in regret and we where not allowed our money back because of the "proof". I was very upset and wanted to buy another one from a trusted shop, but my mum has gone off them and Im not sure how to prove that I can look after one to a huge standard as she has actually become terrified of the animals. Im amazed as she will never be interacting with it; I will. Therefore Im not sure what the problem is with me buying another. I just need to prove Im worthy.

How?
What do I need to do?
I love hamsters and guinea pigs, but my mum is calling the house a "farm" because of all the animals even though we only have three tiny hamsters. I just wish there was a way to convince her. Please help.
No, your misunderstanding the question! I didn’t want to, my mum made me! I was devistated and very upset!
I actually TOLD her pretty much what you said, Piggy, and she didn’t listen. She was very hard to talk to and she had made up her mind about the situation. Don’t tell me that Im unfit to be an owner, because I have owned many pets that have grown into healthy, loving animals. My hamster has lived for four years and is still going, even though the typical lifespan is two. I was not suggesting that I would give up my hamsters for a guinea pig, but rather asking whether I should leave my hamsters alone for a little bit so they could settle in – thats why I said "give up". I meant "give up trying and let them relax".

If dogs and cats were never our furry friends, would you eat them?

This globe is populated by many different people, of many different cultures and beliefs. In China, cats and dogs are butchered much like our American cattle, pigs, and chickens, and sold for their meat. Farmer Brown may love that ol’ cow Bessie since she was a calf, but he’s still gonna love them Bessie burgers when her time comes. But somehow, I think there’d be major societal if not legal repurcussions if I decided to grill up my beefy bulldog Fido, or my chunky kitty Whiskers.

Would anyone else eat dog or cat if it were offered as a tasty entree? Why? Why not?

If America’s the "Land of the Free", why couldn’t I skin, gut, clean, and butcher my pets to see what kind of dishes I could cook up without having cruelty to animals charged against me? Or could I? Anyone know? PLEASE don’t knock it, unless ya tried it…..

What should i get? I am not really sure right now, so HELP PLEASE?

How to take care of a baby pot bellied pig?

Well I volunteer at a vets office and we have a 5 week old pot bellied pig as a clinic pet, well every week someone takes it home and sometimes it will be me! Well either it will get along with my other animals (2 dogs, 2 cats, 3 birds, and a turtle) or we’ll keep him away from the other pets so I’m not worried about that. How should I take care of him? he’s eating solid food so that’s not an issue! help. please & thank you

info about having a pet pig?

Could anyone help me with this idea ive been toying with to get a pet pig?

I’m pretty much clueless on all of this so any help you could dish out would be much apperciated.

some things i really need to know would be

- how much do the pets range from
-sizes
-do they need a lot of vet visits
- can they really just eat the left overs of your food? if so, what kinds of foods, if not what do they eat?
- what do they need for outdoor housing
- what do they need for indoor housing?
- can they be pottytrained?
- after buying them do they generally cost much?
- do most seller/farmer/breeders whatever give them all their shots first?
- is it absolutly nessacery to get them nuterered (sp?) and spayed?

anything else that you think could be helpful please do tell.

thank you so much!

Potbellied pig dilemna?

I have wanted to get a potbellied pig for over a year. I am only 13, but I have finally convinced my parents to let me have one. Of course, I have done my research and know that they are hard pets to handle, but I know that this is the pet for me, and I can handle it. The only thing is, I want to purchase my pig from respectable and professional potbellied pig breeder, with all of it’s vaccinations, and it neutered already from another state(You know, like have him shipped over), but my parent’s want to just get one from the local feed store, and my home is in some terrible rundown town filled with hicks.
Please help me, What should I do?

Potbellied pig question!?

Hey, I have an adult Potbellied Pig. I got him in December, so he’s about a year and a bit old. He needs some excercise because he’s getting fat :) Also, he’s not very social, except with my other pets- mostly the dog. He follows the ducks around the yard. He used to with the dog too. I need to know how to get him to follow me, because I want to take him for walks to help him lose a little bit of weight, and become more social. Please help me. Also, he can’t fit in a harness without screaming to the top of his little piggy lungs, or without it taking like an hour to get the darn thing off of him! Haha, please help me! Thanks! :}
