I would like to know if you can butcher and eat pot belly pigs. They are cheaper then other pigs and being single mom of 4 little ones we need to buy cheap. Please let me know what you think. I was told that for every 40 pounds they weight you will get 10 pounds of meat or something is that true. I just need some meat for us to stock up on winter and this is what i was thinking of doing.
they said it would not be enough meat to mess with but I don’t know for sure I don’t even know if they would taste the same as other pigs do.
I am not going to do it myself there is place here by me that does it for cheap because it is a school that teaches people how to kill animals so they do it cheap because it helps teach the people how to do it.
I am not going to be doing it. I am hiring someone to butcher for me. I just needed to know if you can butcher them because I know they are smaller I just did not know for sure if it would work with them or not.

Basicly i want to know EVERYTHING about pot belly pigs! Caring for them ( Yes i know thier a lot of work) housing them, feeding them, ect! Thanks so much!

actually i have a uncle who owns 2 potbellied pigs,,,they get along with thier ducks,dogs,chickens,kids,and strangers. lol,,and they ARE registerd and ARE mini’s. i just called him,,just found out he had 2 lol!

My Grandmother just bought two mini pot belly pigs and we keep them in the house at night and when it is cold. (We live in Colorado) and when ever we take them in we have to put them in a cat carrier because they wont let us pick them up. Why is this? Every time we try they literally scream bloody murder. We are not hurting them at all but it would be much nicer if we could just pick them up even to love on them. Please help.

I WOULD SIMPLY LIKE TO KNOW THE TEMEPTURE RANGE FOR POT BELLY PIGS I KNOW THEY OVERHEAT EASILY AND ARE NOT SUTED FOR THE COLD BUT AT WHAT EXTREAMS?. MY GRAND CHILDREN AND GREAT GRANDCHILDREN HAVE ONE.

Would anyone happen to know of a site online that sells pot belly pigs, or a Shelter(even better) on line that has Vietnamese pot belly pig, preferably infants to new borns. And that also SAFELY send the pig to your home, or even a local one.(Can seem to find one in Albuquerque) I know they can not leave their mother until 6 weeks. So any info on this would be good.
P.S.- My family has owened farms of animals before so we do now how to care and make sure these animals are 100% healthy…. and NOT Eatin!

I have a pot belly pig and i was wondering if they need to be in the house at night cause it is cold outside …(((44 is the low))) mostly around 50 to 60’s at night ..does anyone know if pot belly pigs need to be warm? he seems like he likes the warm ..i dont want him in the house at night but i dont want to torture him if he is really uncomfortable or are pigs ok to be out in the cold??

I’m considering renting part of our property to a couple with 2 pot belly pigs, we have a 4 year old female chihuahua that wants to dominate all other dogs that visit but does end up "tolerating" them. Wondering if pigs would be a concern?
