What are laws about owning pet pigs in the United States and how much room would one need?

Hello,

I am thinking of getting a pet pig in a few months and was wondering, what are United States laws about owning pigs that would NOT be raised for meat in cities? Would I not be allowed to?

Also, how much land would a smaller pig need to be happy? I’m sorry I don’t know a type as an example as I am still new to pigs.

I’ve raised pigs for almost 12 years. I usually give my pigs 15-20 square feet of room, but I walk them regularly. (we have 15 acres of open land) The regulations really all depend on where you live.
